Founding
The Leyland and Birmingham Rubber Company acquire land in South Africa and set up the first rubber goods manufacturing company in the country .

Official opening
The manufacturing facility of the South African Rubber Manufacturing Company located in the town of Howick, is officially opened.

1929
Commence manufacture of conveyor belting
A new building is added in which 3 belt presses for manufacture of conveyor belting are located. After extensive trials the first conveyor belts manufactured in South Africa are produced and sold to the local gold and diamond mines. The conveyor belts are branded SARMCOL.

1971 - 1981
Major facility upgrade
New manufacturing plant and new compound mixing facilities added. These include 4 bole calendar, F270 compound mixing in new building, manufacture of hydraulic hose, continuous length hose manufacture, rotocure vulcaniser, solid woven belt carcass weaving, manufacture of solid woven pvc conveyor belting, manufacture of steel cord reinforced conveyor belting, introduction of synthetic fabric as conveyor belt reinforcement.
